National Museum & Gallery

Huge, impressive, and right at the heart of the city. The National Musuem & Gallery is a prime intellectual feeding ground for school trips and tourists alike. They hold one of the best impressionist collections in Europe, so it's perfect for brushing up on your old Monet, Renoir and Van Gogh. Even if fine art's not really your bag then there's still plenty to tempt inside its hallowed halls. Archaelogy, geology, ceramics and biology departments all make this the cultural gem of Cardiff, along with a really pissed-off looking giant turtle in the Natural History section.
