The Beverley
Close enough to town for a pint before hitting the city streets, but mostly used as a local by those for whom the prospect of having their teeth pulled has more appeal than a jaunt down into the city centre. Here, a hassle-free night can be spent in good company, knocking back reasonably-priced drinks. The Beverley doubles as a hotel, but the 17 en-suite rooms could do with getting the same level of TLC as the bar. The carpeted bathrooms look frankly, bizarre.
